In the 17 years of Adopt A Village Laos, which Rotary Club of Ladner supports, along with many other clubs across Canada and elsewhere, the installation of a 2.5 km water delivery system to the village of Sopvanh has proven the biggest challenge to date. The road to the village simply wasn't navigable, although there was a construction crew working on it. Much of the work was done by boat along the Ou River.

Each roll of pipe, of 50 metres, was dragged to the shore and loaded by boat. The water for the village comes from a mountain on the other side of the river so approximately 400 metres of pipe is now suspended above the river using steel cable reinforcement and cement posts supported with rebar.

To get the cable across the river, the project hired two professional zipliners.

The CDN$60,000project included over 2.5km of pipe, construction of a dam, a large water tank and a much smaller tank to relieve the water pressure coming from the mountain.
